Okay, where to begin? First of all, the Cubs are back in town and, for now, they’re still the Chicago Cubs. Crane Kenny, Cubs chairman, is on record as saying that he thinks they can change the lettering on the Wrigley Field marquee without affecting the park’s landmark status. In other words, Cubs management could cram “Best Buy- Wal-Mart- Pepsico Field onto the Wrigley marquee and still not “compromise Wrigley’s integrity”. He’s trying to bundle his argument about naming under the banner of First Amendment rights. Thinking like that makes it no wonder the Cub’s are entering their one hundredth championship free year. Have another toke, Crane.

But it’s still Wrigley and they’re still our Cubs, no matter what Kenny and Zell do to drive the franchise into the ground. Summer’s not summer without an afternoon out at the old ballpark, and no afternoon’s complete without at stop at Sheffield’s beer garden.

At Sheffield’s we’ve been hard at work on our menu, coming up with savory summer treats that will satisfy Cubs fans and Sox fans alike. Sheffield’s Sliders, a Backroom BBQ burger, fish tacos and spinach dip and it doesn’t stop there. Not to mention some of the tastiest smoked meats north of Memphis. So come on by for a cold one, come hungry and stick around for dinner.

We’re also kicking off a weekend brunch buffet. We’ll stock the basics, like scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, French toast and sausage and then we’re going to play it by ear. Ribs and brisket, a frittata or breakfast burrito, you never know. One thing you can count on, it’s going to be good. Starting the weekend of the 19th, we’ll run our brunch from 10 AM to 2PM and we’ll offer our regular menu as well, just in case buffets aren’t your style. We’re also putting together a Bloody Mary bar where you can craft an eye-opener to your specifications. Brunch and Bloody Bar are $9.95 each – where else are you going to find a deal like that in Wrigleyville?

After brunch, lunch is one of the best meals of the day. At Sheffield’s we offer a daily $4 lunch special, check our website for details. And unlike those bars by the ballpark that close up shop when the Cub’s aren’t in town, we’re open everyday, with never a rain delay or blackout.

There are daily drink specials, our swanky new booths, and it won’t be long before the leaves are on our cottonwood tree and the Sheffield’s beer garden is the place to be. With the addition of our new menu and weekend brunch, Sheffield’s just may be Wrigleyville’s all star neighborhood destination. At the very least, we’re leading the league.

Join us at Ravens for Cocktails and Conversation everyday till 4am (5am on Saturdays)!

• $3 draft special - all day/everyday.

Hope to see you soon!

At the Silver Cloud we like to think of ourselves as one big dysfunctional family, so on National Siblings Day, Thursday, April 10th, we're inviting your family to have dinner with ours. Dine with your brother or sister and get 10% off your bill. Triplets? 20% off. In fact, we'll subtract another 10% for each additional sibling you bring to the table. It's a family affair, but the maximum discount is half off, so if you're from one of those big Irish Catholic clans, you might want to eat in shifts.

Now spring in Chicago is an exciting time: the days are longer, the trees are starting to bud, the ivy on the walls of Wrigley Field's is turning green. In fact, other than March's St. Patrick's bacchanal, April boasts the greenest day in the Windy City. Earth Day swings back around on the 22nd, time to celebrate the miracle of nature's rebirth and to remember there are an awful lot of us competing for resources that are starting to run a little thin. At the Silver Cloud, we're doing our part by turning out the lights and taking a little of the load off the landfills. We'll serve dinner by candlelight and we'll happily receive your used cell phones, batteries, ink cartridges etc., for drop off at a recycling center. Can't make it to the Cloud that day? No worries, Sheffield's will take your spent accessories as well. Not to be preachy but Americans toss some 146,000 tons of dead batteries on to the collective pile every year, with the accompanying toxic runoff that results. Don't chuck yours in the trash; use those used soldiers for the common good.

Spring also means that our sidewalk café is open for business. If there's a better people watching spot in Bucktown, we've yet to find it. We're open everyday, weather permitting and that includes our famous weekend brunch, served until four PM.

Now if you should find you're in the mood for a breakfast treat earlier in the week, National Pigs in a Blanket day, on the 24th should fix your jones. We'll feature the traditional pancake and sausage style, along with a special bacon, spinach and brie stuffed sausage variety that will have your cardiologist rubbing his hands in anticipation. We think it's delicious but you be the judge. That's it for April. When it's spring in Chicago things just keep on getting better and a visit to the Silver Cloud is as good as it gets.
